College Football Fans in a Foreign Land

My husband is a very proud Aggie.  He grew up in College Station, TX and then graduated from Texas A&M and is a die hard fan.  I am a Gamecock.  I adore my University of South Carolina and all of its traditions (although we get into arguments about that!)  So when it comes to game day, our children have 2 wardrobe changes (at least, depending on the food their eating) to cheer on our beloved football teams.  I am a good wife and have put up my husbands Aggie memorabilia in our house and have even added to it!  But when I try to even put my Carolina blanket on a chair, it some how makes it's way into the linen closet... not even folded nicely.  Hmm...

We have our own friendly trash-talking battles within our house and it usually never left our house because when we lived in Pennsylvania, no one really cared about college football like they do in the south.  We usually only talked about NFL football and our Steelers with our friends and neighbors.  Now, we have found ourselves in the middle of LSU nation.  One of the reasons I love our neighborhood is because every house is beautifully built, manicured and decorated at all times.  It's great down here because the sun is always shining so you don't have to worry about your decor getting ruined by the rain, like in the North.  As Averie and I were taking our walk this morning, I noticed the wreaths on the front doors were changing from colorful ribbons and flowers to purple and yellow.  Or gold, whatever.

My husband had purchased a massive outdoor A&M flag and a Steeler flag to hang on our front porch (he promises I can hang up my Gamecock flag and won't take it down, HA!) and I am going to get the flag poles today.  We have had our friendly banters with our neighbors already about this upcoming season and it is going to get exciting!  I am dreaming up our front porch decorations and game day snacks to deliver to our neighbors.  Which got me researching wreaths for our front door and I have decided I am going to make my own.  Now I can't decide whether or not to do a whole A&M one and a whole Gamecock one, or make a "House Divided" one.  I am also researching the most obnoxious fanatic accessories for our house I can find.

Isn't this just the fun of it all?  Friendly competition in college football is what it's all about, right?  Well, I am told it's not very friendly around here, and our house might get toilet-papered with all our fanaticism.  I think everyone is just jealous of A&M's Heisman winning quarterback and Carolina's ESPY award winning defensive end.

Pictures to come!
